Ian McCartney MP today congratulated Rose Bridge High School on being one of the 100 schools with the most sustained improvement in the whole country.

Official school by school results for the whole of England published today show that Rose Bridge High School, Ince increased the number of pupils getting five or more GCSEs at A*-C grade including English and Maths rose from 15% in 2005 to 34% in 2008 - an increase of 19 percentage points.

Ian said, "I'm delighted that Rose Bridge High School has seen such a big rise in its results – not just last year but over the last three years. It’s one of the largest sustained increases in the country."

"It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of all the pupils and staff at the school."

"But it's not just at Rose Bridge where there have been big improvements. Extra investment from the government, together with the efforts of pupils and teachers, has seen results rise across our area."

"In Wigan, the number of pupils getting at least five GCSEs at A*-C grade has gone up from 43% in 1998 to 66% this year."
