Ian McCartney MP today paid tribute to a Wigan success story as he visited Ince Rose Bridge High School, Holt St, Ince to celebrate the school being declared outstanding by schools watchdog OFSTED.
The inspection comes hot on the heel of the specialist science school being placed in the Top 100 performing schools in the country.
Ian joined local Ince ward member Cllr Jim Moodie in praising Mr Jack Pendlebury (Headteacher), staff, governors and pupils on the schools success.
Ian McCartney MP said, "The outstanding success of Ince Rose Bridge High School is first and foremost a tribute to the hard work of students and staff. The whole of the Wigan community will want to join me in saying a huge 'well done'."
"Good education transforms young people's chances in life, which is why we should be so proud to have a local school recognised as one of the best in the whole country."
"As a specialist science school, they have developed innovative courses and new approaches to learning, which young people find highly motivating and relevant to their future lives.
"I believe that every student is capable of succeeding, and the staff work very hard to realise the full potential of every child."
Ian visited an allotment site within the school grounds which is being used by the school to encourage ‘green fingered’ pupils to grow vegetables. Produce from the site has been sold at Farmers Markets across the region.
